About Samantha
Everyone has a story. Here’s mine…
“I’m a certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE-CPT). I grew up playing a variety of sports including soccer, softball, gymnastics, horseback riding, cheerleading, dance, swimming, & cross country. As a young teenager, I was diagnosed with some heart-related medical issues with symptoms including exercise intolerance, shortness of breath, & light-headedness. Despite the fact that I continued to participate in them off & on, cardio-centric sports became challenging for me. However, even though I felt a little betrayed by my body & its abilities, I still continued to enjoy pushing myself.
I decided to take up weightlifting when I entered college as a good alternative to my favorite cardio-centric sports. I really enjoyed learning technique & programming. I was inspired by women who confidently took up space in the gym. Two years into college, I had a very small stroke (in the grand scheme of strokes) in my brain stem that impacted my abilities for about six months. It was around this time that I became passionate about general health including nutrition, mobility, mental health, & exercise as a means to prevent/improve some medical conditions.
After graduating, I started personal training & have found a lot of joy in helping others improve their health. I have a goal to help every client develop healthier habits if nothing else, but I always secretly hope to foster an appreciation for challenging one’s self as well. Our bodies are our means to feel good doing what we want to do in life — from playing our favorite sport or following any dream we have to eventually playing with our grandchildren. Consistent exercise is a big part of what it takes to keep feeling good.”
